Fifteen days after the burial, the criminals dug a grave and removed the body of an old woman and beheaded her.
The shocking incident took place at Joynagar Central Cemetery in Pabna’s Ishwardi Upazila on Thursday morning. Ishwardi police recovered the decapitated body.
His family has confirmed that the body was that of Fazila Khatun, 65, the wife of the late Abul Hossain of Joynagar Purbapara village.
Earlier in the morning, the cemetery committee learned of the matter and informed the president of Ishwardi Thana and Salimpur Union Parishad. Ishwardi Police Station OC Nasir Uddin and Salimpur UP President Abdul Majid Bablu Malitha visited the scene.
According to sources from the cemetery committee, Fazila Khatun died on October 31 due to a physical illness. On the same day, his body was interred in Jayanagar Central Cemetery on behalf of the family. But two weeks later, someone or someone dug a grave and beheaded Fazila Khatun.
Ishwardi Police Station OC Nasir Uddin said the body would be reburied if a general diary were kept at the Ishwardi Police Station on behalf of the family.
The incident has caused a stir in the area. Lots of people crowd the cemetery in the morning to see the scene.
