Mirpur Police Station (SI) Deputy Inspector Atiqur Rahman filed a charge sheet against Abdul Quader on October 13 after a seven-day investigation. When the case was sent to court for trial and resolution, the crime against the accused was taken into account. On November 12, the court brought charges against the defendants. The court was closed on November 13 and 14 for public holidays. On November 15, 13 people, including the plaintiff, testified in court.
The arguments of the case were presented in court from Tuesday morning. At the end of the discussion, the court set the time to announce the verdict in the afternoon. Then at 1:12, Court Judge Munshi said. Moshiar Rahman delivered the verdict in the presence of the accused.
PP Abdul Halim said this is the first time in the country that a verdict has been rendered in just three working days. The victim’s family quickly obtained justice through this verdict.
The prosecutor said that when announcing the verdict, the court had said in its statements: “The guard has become a devourer here. It seemed to me that the incident was true and the accused was guilty. The accused was then sentenced to life imprisonment. In Bangladesh, the verdict did not come in such a short time, it was made possible with everyone’s cooperation.
After the verdict was announced, the police sent the defendant Abdul Quader to the district jail. As he was being picked up from the prison van, journalists asked him if he regretted the incident. However, he made no comment. His eyes were shining.
