The United States Embassy in Dhaka will begin accepting and interviewing first-time visa applicants in the ‘F’, ‘M’ and ‘J’ categories starting Sunday. The embassy said this on Friday. Note that in the United States, category ‘F’ is specified for education and language visas, category ‘M’ for vocational visas, and category ‘J’ for exchange visitor visas.
According to the US Embassy, Cavid-19 will limit the number of interviews in the embassy’s daily routine and it can take up to six weeks to process a visa. The Embassy requests that applicants consider these issues during the visa application process and plan their application and travel.
Visa applicants in categories ‘F’, ‘M’ and ‘J’ must log in to the website www.ustraveldocs.com/bd and update their profile online. You will then need to take the time for the online interview after paying the corresponding visa fee.
Please note that the United States Embassy continues to provide emergency visa services for applicants in emergency situations, such as life or death. According to the United States Embassy, the application fee will remain valid until regular visa service resumes, and the application fee can be used to schedule an interview until December 31, 2021.
For those students who wish to continue their studies in the same subject at their old / same educational institution, the United States Embassy offers them the opportunity to renew their student visa without an interview. Apart from this, visa renewal applications are also accepted from spouses and their children under 21 years of age with ‘F2’ visa.
