Two daughters fell into the lap of death when they went to see the dead mother in Panchagarh. The shocking incident took place Tuesday evening in the Chandanbari union’s Khalifapur village in Boda upazila of Panchagarh.
According to local sources, Panchami Bewa (90) died Tuesday morning due to old age. Family members rushed to hear the news of his death. Also six daughters came from her husband’s house to see their mother for the last time. Panchami’s youngest daughter Chaiti Rani (30) and eldest daughter Swarajini Bala (50) came to see their dead mother and passed out due to their mother’s pain. They later died on the way to the hospital.
The late Panchami Bewa is the wife of the late Pran Kishore Barman from the area. She was the mother of six daughters and two sons. The deceased were identified as Swarajni Bala, wife of Sushil Chandra Roy from the Dangapara area of the Sakoa union of the same upazila and Chaiti Rani, wife of Palash Chandra Roy from the Farabari area of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.
Citing members of Panchami Bewar’s family, Zakaria Habib, a member of the Chandanbari Union Parishad District 5, said that after Panchami Bewar’s death on Tuesday, her six daughters came to see her from her husband’s home. The girls cried for their mother all day. In the afternoon, while preparing to return home after burying Panchami’s body in the crematorium next to her home, her youngest daughter, Chaiti Rani, fainted due to chest pain.
He said Swarajini Bala, Panchami’s eldest daughter, was also on the minibus when family members took Chaiti by minibus to nearby Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar hospital for treatment. He was also taking his younger sister to the hospital. On the way, Swarajini Bala also fainted. Two sisters died in a minibus around 8 pm on the way to Thakurgaon Hospital.
The death of two sisters in the mother’s mourning cast a shadow of mourning over the area. The two dead sisters were buried in the husband’s home on Wednesday.
Kamini Kumar Roy, grandson of the late Panchami Bewar, said it was a tragic and tragic incident. We are deeply saddened. None of the family members stop crying.
