Naib Amir Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim Shaikh Charmonai of the Bangladesh Islamic Movement has said that the Touhidi people will stop the conspiracy to establish idols in the name of sculpture. The government has to come back from the reckless decision to erect the statue at the expense of the state.

He said that in a country where millions of people die of hunger, malnutrition and without treatment, the state’s decision to establish idols at the cost of millions of rupees would not bring benefits. Immediately cancel the decision to place the statue. He demanded that instead of erecting statues in the name of sculpture, a monument with 99 names of God be erected to seek the forgiveness of the soul of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect from Bangladesh.

Faizul Karami made the remarks while addressing a large gathering organized by Touhidi Janata Oikya Parishad in Dholaipara in the capital on Friday.

Concerned people said that the demonstration was supposed to take place in Dholaipara, but that it took place on the Dhupkhola land due to obstruction by the administration.

The demonstration was led by Maulana Ahmad Abdul Qayyum, Mufti Delwar Hossain Saki, Mufti Mostafa Kamal, Maulana HM Saiful Islam.

The speakers demanded the installation of pillars with ornaments from the Qur’an, pillars with minarets, minarets with ninety-nine names of Allah, etc., instead of sculptures.
