Followers of the late Amir Shah Ahmad Shafi think that there will be no united Hefazat-e-Islam platform around this council.
One party convened a council at Al Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari on Sunday morning.
Some 500 people have been invited, including district representatives from across the country.
However, supporters, including Anas Madani, son of the late Amir Ahmad Shafi, have complained that they have not been invited to the council.
Hefazat Amir Ahmad Shafi died
According to stakeholders, the new leadership will be selected by the 15-member shura committee of senior academics. He will determine the emir and the secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam.
There are also indications that some other top positions may change.
Nazirhat Shura member Al Jamia Al Arabiya Nasirul Islam Madrasa and Muhtamim Mahibullah Babungari of Fatikchhari Babunagar Madrasa will chair the conference. He is the uncle of Secretary General Junaid Babungari.
Maulana Azizul Haque, central organizing secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam, told Islamabadi bdnews24.com: “A delegates conference has been called. New leadership will be determined. District leaders will be invited, including committee leaders. Central. About 500 people are being invited. “
The conference will begin at 10 am on Sunday at Hathazari Madrasa. Islamabadi said that Mahibullah will preside as Naib Amir.

Hefazat Central Deputy General Secretary Maulana Mainuddin Ruhi told bdnews24.com: He has resigned from custody. Hefazat founder Amir Shah Ahmad has spoken out against Shafi, even against Hefazat. “
When asked about the legitimacy of the council, he said: “This council has no legitimacy. There will be a pocket committee. The united platform of Hefazat-e-Islam will be destroyed. This council is being formed to implement a group’s agenda.” .
Muhibullah Babungari resigned as Naib Amir of Hefazat two years ago due to an internal dispute over the official recognition of the Qawmi Madrasa Charter and the reception given to the Prime Minister.
When asked about those involved in organizing the council, Mainuddin Ruhi said: “Our central committee consists of 151 people. Where did they get the rest of the people? People invited for their sake. That said, they have been invited to The best scholars in the country The best scholars of Chittagong did not receive the invitation.
“Of the six councils that I have heard of, four are in the Chittagong metropolis or in the north, none in the south. So only his followers will be invited. “
Although Anas Madani and his followers were not invited to the conference, it was reported that Mohammad Yusuf, the eldest son of the late Shafi, was invited.
Mainuddin Ruhir alleged that the council was being invited by excluding the followers of the late Amir Ahmad Shafi and the followers of the Pir of Charmonai.
Najibul Bashar wants Babungari as custodial emir
When asked by Islamist Azizul Haque about Mahibullah Babungari’s resignation, he said: “His letter of resignation has not been accepted. He is Naib Amir.
“We do not have a voting system in leadership elections. The Shura will then decide with everyone’s opinion. There is no candidate for any position. The council will discuss and decide who will get what position.”
Hefazat’s followers want Junaid Babungari as the new emir. And the name of the current Naib Amir Nur Hossain Qasemi in the post of Secretary General is the most disputed.
Ahmeduddin Shafi’s follower, Mainuddin Ruhi, said: “I heard that they want to appoint Nur Hossain Qasemi as general secretary. And Junaid Babungari himself wants to be Amir.
“If Naib Amir himself is the secretary general, then there will be no chain of command for the organization. Nur Hossain Qasemi is the leader of one of the 20-party alliances. According to the Hefazat constitution, no one from the party can be secretary general. ”.
Nur Hossain Qasemi is the general secretary of the Jamiat Ulama Islam Bangladesh 20-party alliance.
Hefazat-e-Islam emerged in the discussion after the start of the Ganajagaran movement in 2013 demanding the maximum punishment for war criminals. Ahmed Shafi was the emir of this organization formed before him.

Due to Shafi’s age, the dispute between his followers and the followers of Babungari over the selection of his successor in Hathazari Madrasa became public this year.
Junaid Babungari, who was the Naib Muhtamim or deputy director of the Madrasa, was one of the main aspirants to the Madrasa. But her conflict with Shafi’s son, Anas Madani, sparked riots at the madrassa.
As a result, Babungari lost the position of deputy director on June 16. Shafi’s supporters survived, but he stayed.
Ahmed Shafi lost the authority of Hathazari Madrasa
Hundreds of students suddenly began protesting in September when the madrasah reopened after being closed for about six months amid the coronavirus epidemic. In the face of protests, the Madrasa Shura Committee meeting on September 18 removed Anas Madani from all posts, including that of deputy director of the madrasah. And Muhtamim Ahmad Shafi left his post and was admitted to the hospital.
Ahmed Shafi died the next day, September 16, in Dhaka. The presence of the top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami in his janaza gave rise to new discussions. Junaid Babungari was accused of being associated with Jamaat-e-Islami.

Junaid Babungari returned to Hathazari Madrasa after Shafi’s death; Hefazat supporters are actively involved in the formation of a new leadership.
At a press conference in Nazirhat Madrasa on October 25, Fatikchhari Awami League deputy Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari said he wanted to see Junaid Babungari as Hefazat Amir.
Hifazat leaders, who have been inactive for a long time, recently voiced their opposition to the Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) cartoons in French magazines, run by Junaid Babungari and Qasemi.
