Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on March 17, 1920 in Tungipara, Gopalganj. Over time, Bangladesh took its place on the world map in 1971 as a new country.
2020 marks the centenary of Bangabandhu’s birth. Bangladesh will celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Independence on March 26 next year.
In July 2017, the government declared the year 2020-2021 as ‘Mujib Year’ to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the Father of the Nation. To this end, on February 14 of last year two committees were formed under the name of ‘National Committee to Celebrate the Centennial of the Birth of the Father of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Nation’ and ‘National Implementation Committee to Celebrate the Centennial of the Birth of the Father of the Bangabandhu Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman ‘.
