The Appeals Chamber declared Jumman Siddiqui, son of a judge, a lawyer for the Superior Court and declared it legal to publish a bulletin directly after failing the lawyer’s admission test and suspended the Superior Court’s verdict on the fine of two lawyers. At the same time, the court has ordered periodic appeals against the Superior Court’s verdict.
The Appeals Division, headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, approved the order on Wednesday (November 11) after hearing a request requesting the stay of the High Court verdict.
Lawyers Ruhul Quddus Kajal and Anik R Haque were present at the hearing. Attorney M. was in favor of Jumman Siddiqui. Amir ul Islam and Tania Amir.
Previously, on November 8, the Superior Court rejected a rule that sought to know why it would not be illegal for Jumman Siddiqui to publish a bulletin directly as a Superior Court attorney, even after failing the attorney admission test.
The court also entered contempt of court judgments against Syed Saidul Haque Sumon and Ishrat Hasan, two lawyers in the case, and fined them Tk 100 each. An appeal was subsequently filed with the Appeals Division requesting the suspension of the Superior Court judgment.
A lawsuit was filed against the son of a Superior Court judge challenging the validity of declaring him a lawyer in the Superior Court on November 21, despite the fact that he repeatedly failed the lawyer admission test. Lawyers Syed Saidul Haque Sumon and Ishrat Hasan filed the appeal request.
According to the petition, Jumman Siddiqui, the son of a High Court judge, failed the examination of the Bangladesh Bar Association several times. However, he was directly included as a lawyer in the Superior Court and the newspaper was published on October 31.
Therefore, the order has challenged that bulletin and sections 21 (1) (b) and 30 (3) of the Bangladesh Bar Council Order 1972. Officials of the Bar Association, including Jumman Siddiqui, were challenged in the car request.
