The High Court has ordered the return of the two grandchildren of former Attorney General KS Nabi to ensure their safety. The court ordered the Dhanmondi Police Station to carry out the order. The High Court bench headed by Judge Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman approved the order on Sunday (October 4). Later, Supreme Court attorney Manzil Morshed confirmed the order to the Bengali Tribune.

Former attorney general KS Nabi is known to own a four-story house in the capital Dhanmondi. Siratun Nabi, the youngest son of a former lawyer, recently died. Since then, his two children, Kazi Adian Nabi and Kazi Nahyan Nabi, have been unable to enter the home.

Previously, there was a divorce between the parents of the two children. When the father dies, the two children go to stay with their mother for a time. The two children tried to return to their mother’s house. But they are no longer allowed into the house. After several attempts, the two children were unable to enter the house. The Dhanmondi Police Station was informed about this. However, his uncle and Supreme Court attorney, Kazi Rehan Nabi, did not allow the children to enter the house even at the request of the police.

Mehreen Ahmed, the aunt of the two children (daughter of KS Nabi’s sister) said: “Their parents used to live apart for divorce. They lived with their father in their grandfather’s house. But after the death of their father, the two children became very depressed and returned home to their mother after a while. But the door of the house was not opened to them. We communicate as a family. I called Kazi Rehan Nabi, the children’s great-uncle. But she told them to go home after the illness. We then reported to the Dhanmondi police station. The police came and called him (Qazi Rehan Nabi) and requested him. So the Dhanmondi OC Police Station (Ikram Hossain Mia) asked us to go the next day. But the two children saw that the day before they could enter the premises of the house, but the next day the outer door was also closed and the dog was left inside. We then report back to the police. But the police said there is nothing we can do, let him take refuge in court.

He added that the house is still in the name of KS Nabi. From that point of view, both children are the owners of the house.

Mehreen Ahmed complained: “After the death of the children’s father, his older brother, Rehan Nabi, is trying to take over his bank balance.”

On Sunday (October 4) at 12 p.m. a report on the incident was broadcast in the Ekattar Journal of the private television channel Ekattar TV. At the time, his uncle, journalist Rezwanul Haque, and Supreme Court attorney Manzil contracts Morshed were involved in a virtual discussion with the two children at Ekattar Journal. The issue came to the attention of Judge Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman while broadcasting the Ekattar Journal program. He then took cognizance of the distributed report and ordered the constitution of a chamber of the Superior Court at midnight.

Lawyer Manzil Morshed told the Bengali Tribune about the order: “I participated in the life of Ekattar Journal to speak about the rights of the two children.” During the live show, a Superior Court court approved the order on its own initiative. Later I found out the details of the order. In its order, the court ordered the CO of Dhanmondi Police Station to make arrangements to keep the two children in their home (grandfather’s home). The lawyer also said that the court has ordered to file a report in the morning to ensure the safety of the children and to execute the order.
