The depression in the northwest of the Bay of Bengal has turned into a deep depression. Where depression is so far away, it could hit Khulna, the Sundarbans in Bangladesh and the Sundarbans in India on Friday afternoon or evening. The meteorological office said it was not immediately clear if the deep depression would turn into a cyclone. Due to heavy rains for two days, the risk of cyclone is lower. Heavy rains deplete the energy of depression.
Within 48 km of the center of the deep depression, the wind blows continuously at a speed of 50 to 60 km per hour. Due to the deep depression, the seaports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra were asked to issue warning signal number 4.
Meteorologist Abdul Mannan told Kaler Kantha on Thursday: “It is not yet known whether the deep depression in the northwest of the Bay of Bengal will turn into a cyclone. Due to the effect of the low pressure, the intensity of the rain is much higher. However, where the low pressure is so far, it is towards the south of Bangladesh, Khulna, the Sundarbans coast, it could hit the Sundarbans in India and the Sundarbans in Bangladesh on Friday afternoon or at night.
According to the meteorological office, the depression is currently 560 km south, southwest of the Mongla seaport and 565 km south and southwest of the Payra seaport. Within 48 km of the center of the depression, the maximum continuous wind speed increases from 50 to 60 km per hour. The sea is rough near the center of the depression.
Heavy Rain Warning: Due to the deep depression in the northwest of the Bay of Bengal, 48 to 6mm of heavy rain may fall in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Chittagong, Barisal, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. At the same time, there may be more than 69mm of rain or very heavy rain. Due to the low pressure, today it will rain in almost all the districts of the country. The highest rainfall of 289mm was recorded yesterday at Khepupara in Patuakhali. In addition, 194 mm of rain was recorded in Patuakhali, 156 mm in Hatia and 135 mm in Cox’s Bazar.
According to the Meteorological Office, a cyclone usually occurs when the wind speed is 60 to 69 km / h. The meteorological office had previously forecast a cyclone this month. A slight pressure was created in the sea last Wednesday. Gradually it becomes a clear depression, then a depression, then a deep depression. As a result, it has been raining across the country for the past two days. Dhaka received 26mm of rain yesterday. The sky was cloudy all day since yesterday morning. Sometimes drizzle, sometimes moderate rain. Meanwhile, two deep depressions have formed in the sea.
The special weather forecast said all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay and deep sea were asked to go to safe havens and stay safe until further notice. At the same time, they have been told not to roam the depths of the sea.
