Expressing concern that the situation in Corona may worsen in the coming winter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed everyone involved to be prepared from now on.
The Prime Minister said this while accepting grants to the Prime Minister’s Welfare and Assistance Fund from various organizations, including 34 commercial banks on Sunday. He joined the event at the Prime Minister’s Office via video conference from Ganobhaban.
Sheikh Hasina said: ‘Winter is coming. In some cases, the situation can get even worse. We have to prepare to face it from now on.

Referring to the government’s sincere efforts including keeping the country’s economy free from the impact of Cavid-19, the Prime Minister said: “We have taken effective measures to keep the country’s trade and economy afloat.” We have announced incentive packages and provided them when required. The Prime Minister thanked the Banking Association of Bangladesh (BAB) for extending its hand in any crisis in the country. He asked the BAB to pay special attention to ensure that banks can do business properly.
The Prime Minister said: ‘Some banks have become very weak. In that case, a merger (of banks) is often required. However, it is necessary to verify which bank is working properly and which is not. Trust me, nothing will be done to that end without an evaluation.
The prime minister said his government has taken the initiative to open banks in the private sector for the first time and has allowed most private banks to operate, creating huge jobs.
Referring to the issue of opening bank accounts for farmers in Tk 10, he said that his government has also taken initiatives to get people used to using banks for monetary transactions.
