The salary rating of Ahmed Kabir, the former Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jamalpur, who was widely criticized across the country for leaking videos of an abusive relationship with an office assistant, has been lowered. Concerned people say that Ahmed Kabir should quit his job based on the crime. However, considering his wife and children, he has been kept in the position and his salary rating has been lowered. They also said that even if the minimum penalty is given, this officer can end his career.
The four penalties under the 2018 Employee Rules (Discipline and Appeal) include demotion to a lower position or lower pay grade, mandatory retirement, layoff, and dismissal.
Investigators said Ahmed Kabir would have received his current salary if he had been punished for being demoted to a lower position. And his salary was cut in half due to the punishment of the lower salary grade, but he remained in office.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain told Kaler Kanth on Wednesday why he was not given the maximum sentence after the crime of a responsible officer was proven in multiple investigations. Ahmed Kabir is currently in the fifth grade as undersecretary. Due to the punishment, from now on he will receive the lowest sixth grade salary according to the 2015 national salary scale. In other words, the salary that an undersecretary receives after being promoted (senior), he will receive now. The basic salary in the fifth grade is about 60 lakhs. From now on he will receive a base salary of Rs 35 lakhs. You will receive other assignments commensurate with this grade.

The investigator mentioned that the allegation of misconduct has been proven against the accused in accordance with Rule 3 (b) of the Regulation (Discipline and Appeal) of Public Servants-2018.
He was sentenced to three years in the lowest salary grade after reviewing other issues, including the investigative report, the sentence says.
