The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) has called on donors to oppose the refuge of communal forces. CPB leaders made the call at a central rally at Purana Paltan in the capital on Saturday to mark the day of anti-fundamentalism and anti-communalism.

Kazi Sajjad Zaheer Chandan, deputy general secretary of the CPB central committee, chaired the demonstration and called for a ban on the use of religion and religion-based political parties in politics, the arrest of communal instigators and resistance to the fundamentalism and communal forces and their patrons. Presidium member Aniruddha Das Anjan, Central Committee secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, and Central Committee member Dr .. Sajedul Haque Rubel spoke.

Leaders at the rally said the boasting of fanatical community fundamentalist forces and anti-liberation activities have been on the rise with the opportunity for authoritarian rule. Fundamentalism and communal forces have become reckless as a result of ruling class patronage and various economic and other opportunities. Despite speaking of the spirit of the liberation war, the current government has been playing a role in the rise of fundamentalism. Even after the demolition of the Bangabandhu sculpture, the government did not change its policy of fundamentalism and adulation.

The leaders said that due to the government’s policy of compromise and appeasement, the courage and arrogant behavior of the communal, anti-liberal and fanatical forces has multiplied. The dual attitude of the government has threatened the consciousness of the nature of the liberation war. Those who incite communalism under the guise of anti-sculpture must be arrested and brought to justice immediately.

The leaders further said that in order to resist this communal anti-liberation force, the left communists must intensify their fight for rice and votes and democracy. At the same time, the struggle of workers, peasants and working people must be accelerated. The leaders exhorted the people to unite in faith in the spirit of the great liberation war and to intensify the fight against the communal anti-independence forces.
