Under Georgia state rules, any candidate can request a recount if the margin is less than 0.5 percent. In this case the same thing happened.
With 99 percent of the votes counted, in-state Democratic candidate Biden is ahead of Republican Trump by 1,569 votes. Both obtained 49.4% of the votes. As a result, the fate of Georgia’s vote fell short of that rule.
Confirming the count, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said in Atlanta on Friday that the work would be done in full transparency.
He said that so far 4,179 votes remain to be counted and another 8,000 votes sent by members of the military have been mailed and that the counting will begin on Friday.
The vote count has yet to take place, and someone has declared the final winner. And the gap between the votes of the two candidates now has to be counted according to the law of this state.
Biden has already won 253 of 537 electoral college votes in all states. He is 16 votes short of the 260 electoral votes required for a final victory.
If Biden wins the state of Georgia with 16 votes, he will have 279 electoral votes. In other words, Biden will be just one vote from the White House.
The count is still ongoing in four key states, including Georgia. There are 20 polling place votes in Pennsylvania, 15 in North Carolina, 11 in Arizona, and 7 in Nevada.
Biden has surpassed Trump in Pennsylvania and Georgia. If he wins, his electoral vote will be 273, which means that he will not have to wait for more results to be elected.
