Much unknown information is emerging behind the incident of vandalism and looting of Hindu houses in Noagaon of Habibpur Union in Shalla Upazila of Sunamganj.
Speaking to the locals, it became known that the anti-Mamunul Haq Facebook status has nothing to do with the assault, vandalism and looting incidents, but the disgusting incident has been caused by Jhumon Das using his offensive Facebook status as a tool. .
Witnesses Asim Chakraborty and Deepak Das said that the main leaders of the attack were Shahidul Islam Swadhin, district president of Sarmangal Union Juba League, a current UP member from Nachni village in Dirai upazila, and Pakkan Mia from the same village.
They said that by announcing Mike, led by the independent member and Pakkan Mia, they organized people and carried out riots in the village.
Speaking with stakeholders, it emerged that the independent member of Nachni village is the tenant of Kuchakhai Bill from Baram Haor village. Some people in Noagaon, including Jhumon Das, who was arrested for insulting Swadhin on Facebook for some time, were having a dispute with Swadhin about Jalmahal.
Noagaon’s Haripada Das and Jagadish freedom fighter Dandra Das along with Upazila Nirbahi’s officer complained about the irrigation water crisis in agriculture due to illegal fishing and drying up of water in Jalmahal.
Following the indictment, Upazila Nirbahi’s officer Al Moktadir Hossain went to Surajmin Kuchakhai Bill on January 8 and confiscated various fishing equipment, including illegal shallow machines, and released Jalmahal’s water.
Amar Chandra Das, son of freedom fighter Akil Chandra Das from the village of Noagaon and Jhumon Das from the same village posted the scene of the water toss on Facebook.
The victims alleged that the independent member was threatening the people of the Hindu community in Noagaon. Many affected families from the village of Noagaon alleged on Wednesday that Jhumon Das used the affair to ravage and loot the village of Noagaon with Hefazat’s followers and his own people.
According to the victims, Swadhin and his followers carried out acts of violence in the homes of Hindus to provoke the followers of Mamunul Huq.
Shailen Chandra Das, a victim from Noagaon village, said: “Our houses have been vandalized and looted under the leadership of Swadhin and Pakkan. They looted my money and my jewelry. Our villagers were having trouble with Swadhin. He wants to irrigate Kuchakhai Bill from Baram Haor, and we villagers resist. The land cannot be irrigated due to watering bills. The land and fields are being destroyed for lack of water. We have complained about Mr. UNO’s work in this regard. The complainant was my uncle Haripada Das. That is why the houses of Haripada Babu’s relatives have been damaged, he alleged.
Akil Chandra Das, a fighter for the freedom of the victims, said: I was at home. They broke down my door and looted everything and took a lot of things, including money and freedom fighter certificates. They didn’t release me even after calling me a freedom fighter. Hundreds of people attacked. I could only recognize Pakkan Mia and the independent member. We had a dispute with the independent Mia. My son Amar Chandra Das cut the dam when the OC and the UNO gave permission to break the dam. That’s why he destroyed my house more. He claimed the judgment of an independent member in this case.
Meanwhile, various social and political organizations have organized human chains and protest processions in Noagaon demanding the arrest and exemplary punishment of all the culprits involved in this heinous incident.
Although 22 people were arrested after filing a case for vandalism and looting, there is anger and fear in the area as Naterguru is an independent member and Pakkan Mia is elusive. However, senior police administration officials assured everyone that Swadhin and everyone involved in her would be put on the fence. No one will be saved.
However, in denying the allegations, UP member Sahidul Islam told Swadhin Jugantar that he was not involved in the attack. I have a dispute with the people of Noagaon over Jalmahal. The Shalla Police Station has dealt with the matter more than once. Of that indignation they are saying my name to incriminate me.
While exchanging views with victims at the Noagaon government elementary school on Friday, Divisional Commissioner Mashiur Rahman, Sylhet Range DIG Mofiz Uddin Ahmed (PPM), Deputy Commissioner Jahangir Hossain, and Police Superintendent Mizanur Rahman said all members independents involved in the incident will soon submit to the law.
