The girl’s husband filed a case at the Shahparan Police Station in Sylhet on Saturday for the rape that took place in the MC College dorm on Friday. Later, Saifur, Tareq Rony, and Arjun left their wife in the car and took her husband to the west side of Block 7. Saifur Rahman, Tarekul Islam, Mahmubu Rahman Rony, and Arjun Lashkar raped the girlfriend inside the private car while she she was busy talking to her husband. When he tried to save his wife after hearing her screams, the defendant beat her and detained her.
Half an hour later, his wife started crying and told the husband that the defendant had stopped their private car and asked him to take it away and pay Rs 50,000. He then walked with his wife to the door of the university hostel and called a GNC autorickshaw to the Tilagarh point and reported to the police.
Meanwhile, at the time of the rape, a boy on the second-floor terrace of a five-story building told her to leave. With the help of the police, the plaintiff then showed his car to the police in Block 6 and identified the boy on the second floor. The boy said his name was Hridoy Parvez. Then Hridoy Parvez said that when he got to the veranda, his roommate (the third defendant in the case) Shah Mohammad. Mahbubur Rahman Rani tells him to go away.
At that time, other students at the shelter displayed photos of Ronnie and other defendants on their mobile phones. The husband and wife of the victim identified 6 members of the Chhatra League and may know their names and addresses. Another 2/3 of the accused could not be identified. The police recovered the plaintiff’s car and a motorcycle used by the rapists from the scene. Later, with the help of the police, he filed a complaint against his wife at the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The defendants in the case brought by the young woman’s husband are: Tarekul Islam Tarek (28), son of Rafiqul Islam of Umednagar in Sunamganj Sadar Upazila, Maryland of Bagunipara of Habiganj Sadar. Jahangir Miah’s son, Shah Mohammad. Mahbubur Rahman Rony (25), Arjun Laskar (25), son of Kanu Laskar from Atgram in Zakiganj, Rabiul Islam (25) from Barangadipur (Jagdal) village of Dirai upazila and Mahfuzur Rahman Masum (25) from Gachbari village of Kanaighat. In addition, three more unidentified persons have been charged.
So far, six people, including four defendants, have been arrested after the case was closed. Defendants Mahfuzur Rahman Masum and Tarekul Islam Tareq continue to flee.
