The two brothers of the president of Jewel, Montu and Sentu, and his niece Rubel, Babu and their associates Sujan, Mehedi, Masum, Russell, Salam, Gaffar and 20-25 other people attacked Amirul Islam Nayan. They beat him with sharp weapons, sticks, and bricks. At that time, when their brother-in-law and father-in-law tried to stop them, the terrorists attacked them. Later, the faithful rescued them and sent them to the Upazila Health Complex.
The President of the Gazaria Upazila Press Club, Mohammad Jasim Uddin, and the President of the Munshiganj Press Club, Mir Nasir Uddin Ujjwal, the General Secretary Mamunur Rashid Khoka and other people of different classes and professions have demanded the maximum punishment for the involved in the incident.
According to locals, the attack may have been triggered by the announcement by the brother-in-law of journalist Amirul Islam, Saddam’s uncle, to run in the Baluakandi Union Parishad elections.
Meanwhile, the Gazaria police have launched an operation to arrest the culprits immediately after the incident. Munshiganj Circle Additional Police Superintendent Khandaker Ashrafuzzaman said operations were underway to catch those involved. No one involved in the incident will be saved.
Baluzakandi Union Parishad President Shahiduzzaman Jewel said: “My car has a problem.” So I have been in Dhaka since morning with the car. I don’t know anything about the incident of the attack. However, I have heard that although the mandate of the mosque committee has expired, there has been talk of forcing Nayan’s father-in-law to remain as secretary general of the mosque committee.
