A passenger who jumped into the middle river from the boat with his mother has been rescued alive.
Fishermen rescued him from the Kirtankhola River, near the Charmonai area of Barisal Sadar upazila, around 11:15 pm on Saturday (November 14).
The rescued Falguni Akhter (35) is a resident of Lalmohan upazila in Bhola. He is an assistant teacher at a public elementary school in Lalmohan.
Falguni Akhter was a passenger on the MV Sundarbans-10 motorboat that left the river port of Barisal for Dhaka around 9pm on Saturday. Falguni Akhter was going to Dhaka with his mother and aunt in that boat.
Sundarbans-10 Launch Supervisor. Harun-ur-Rashid said the Sundarbans-10 launch left the Barisal river port at around 9pm for Dhaka. An elderly woman said her daughter had fallen into the Kirtankhola River around 10 pm while crossing the Charmonai area.
Immediately the launch came to a stop and the search light on the river came on. In addition, the residents of the riverbank and the fishermen of the river were informed about the launch microphone.
An hour later, the Deputy Inspector of Police from Barisal Kotwali (SI) said. Riaz said on her mobile phone that the woman was rescued alive by local fishermen. She is fine.
After receiving the news, the mother and aunt of the woman who was in the boat were informed about the matter.

Jewel said on her mobile phone that some fishermen, including Alam Chowkidar from Makram Pratap village, were fishing on the Kirtankhola River by boat. At that moment, they saw a woman floating and rescued her. He was later taken to Alam Chowkidar’s home.
He said that after speaking with the fishermen, it was learned that the woman was unconscious for some time after the rescue. When he regained consciousness, Falguni Akhter told the fishermen his name. He told the fishermen that his mother scolded him after he got on the boat. That’s why he jumped into the river from the boat.
Jailer Alam Chowkidar said that after rescuing Falguni Akhter, they brought and showed a doctor from the local village. He is currently healthy. But he is afraid. That is why he does not speak to anyone correctly.
Kotwali Model Police OC said. Nurul Islam said: “Fortunately, the woman survived after being caught by fishermen.” Family members have been contacted. The next step will be taken when they arrive.
