The prices of domestic onions, new potatoes and eggs have fallen in a week due to the increase in supply on the market. The new prices were seen in different markets of the capital on Friday.
It has been seen in the caravan market that old potatoes are sold for 40 or 45 rupees per kg. But last week it was 50 to 60 rupees per kg. Now new potatoes are sold for Rs 45-50. On the other hand, domestic onions are sold at 55-60 rupees per kg, up from 75-80 rupees per kg last week. On the other hand, imported onions are sold at 25-30 rupees per kg, up from 30-45 rupees last week.
Eggs, meanwhile, are selling for Rs 85 a dozen on the market, which is down Rs 10 in a week. Last week the eggs were selling for Rs 95 per dozen.
Sharif Uddin, a vendor from Karwan Bazar, said: “The price was a bit higher because there was less supply of potatoes on the market. Now the supply of new potatoes has increased again, so the price has fallen. If the potato supply is like this, the price will be within reach, he said.
Monir Hossain worked in a private company. Although his regular salary has been reduced due to Corona, it has been reduced. So he came to Karwan Bazar to buy wholesale vegetables at low prices. He told NTV Online, ‘The market price of potatoes and onions seems to be a bit low. It can grow up front. That’s why I buy more vegetables ”.
Kabir Hossain, an onion trader in Jatrabari, said: “There are now enough new onions on the market. The quality of this onion is also good. The increased supply of new onions has reduced prices. The price of onion will drop even more.
Meanwhile, the supply of eggs on the market is high. Traders said the price has dropped now that the supply of eggs has increased.
Also, the winter vegetable beans are sold at Tk 25 to 40 depending on the variety and size, each cauliflower at Tk 10-20 depending on the size and the cabbage at Tk 15 to 25. Radish is available at a price of 10 to 15 rupees per kg. The large pumpkin is available for 40 rupees. Carrots are sold at Rs 40 to Rs 50 per kg. Eggplant sells for Rs 20-30 per kg and Karla for Rs 40-50.
