A hilsa weighing around 3 kg was sold for Tk 5,300 at KB Bazaar in Bagerhat. Former municipal commissioner and district president of the Sramik League, Sheikh Rezaur Rahman Montu, bought the fish on Tuesday morning.
Abed Ali, a wholesale fishmonger in the market, sold the fish. The fish weighed 2 kg 900 g.
Rezaur Rahman Montu said that he occasionally buys hilsa and other fish at KB Bazar. The purchase and sale of Hilsa will be closed as of Wednesday; So Tuesday morning he went to the KB market to buy hilsa fish.
He added that large hilsa fish have been seen this year. You have bought fish weighing 1.5-2 kg in this market before. In the past two decades, he has not seen a thread so large that it weighs about three kilograms. So even though the price is a bit higher, you have bought the best thread on the market for 5,300 rupees.
He added that after taking such a large string home, many neighbors rushed to see the fish.
