The announced results show that the Awami League mayoral candidate Sanat Kumar Biswas was unofficially elected with 6,072 votes. His closest rival Achintya Kumar Mandal, an independent candidate from Jag Pratik, got 2,515 votes. The BNP candidate passed away recently. Abul Khair Khan obtained 703 votes. From there he was buried in the family cemetery after the third janaza in Anandnagar, his hometown.
