Police have released three young men arrested in connection with the rape and murder of Anushka Noor Amin, an ‘O’ level student of the English Medium School Mastermind in the capital. They are friends of the main defendant Fardin Iftekhar alias Dihan.
They were released Friday night, police said, adding that initially no involvement in the rape and murder of the student was found.
However, Dihan, the sole defendant in the student’s rape and murder case and a friend of the student, pleaded guilty in court on Friday. Now he is in jail.
Abul Hasan, deputy commissioner of police in the Newmarket area, told the media that preliminary investigations and interrogations found no involvement in the murder and rape of three of Dihan’s friends.
‘So they have been released to their guardians on bail. If those young people are found to be involved in murder and rape, they will be subjected to the law, ” he said.
Meanwhile, after an autopsy at the Dhaka Medical College morgue, the student’s body was buried in the Gopalpur family cemetery in Kushtia Sadar Upazila on Saturday morning.
According to the victim’s family and police sources, Anushka’s home is in Sobhanbagh, Dhanmondi. He left the house around 12 noon on Thursday to meet his friend. Later, Dolphin goes to Dihan’s house in the alley. When the student got sick there, Dihan called her three friends.
The student was later taken to Anwar Khan College of Modern Medicine Hospital for treatment. The doctor on duty declared the student dead.
