The plane that crashed in Indonesia likely crashed after crashing into the sea. Based on the remains found in the sea, researchers believe so.
Nurkayo Utomo, an investigator with the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee, told Reuters the plane crashed into the sea and was smashed into pieces. Because, if there were an explosion during the reading, the debris would be spread over a much larger area.
Investigators have already analyzed various parts of the recovered aircraft wheels and structures. The salvaged items include a motor turbine.
Nurkayho Utomo said authorities expect to find the black box today.

Four minutes after taking off from the airport, it fell off the radar, the BBC reported. Authorities say there were 72 passengers and crew on board. Among them were 10 children. They are all Indonesian.
