Narail: The death of the son-in-law of former President of India Narail, Pranab Mukherjee, has been deeply mourned by his relatives (of Pranab Mukherjee) and people from various walks of life in Narail.
They expressed their condolences on Monday night (August 31).

On the morning of March 5, 2013, the then President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, arrived in Narail with his wife Shuvra Mukherjee to visit the home of his father-in-law.
That morning, he got out of a helicopter in Narail town and drove to his father-in-law’s house in the village of Bhadrabila on the banks of the Chitra river in Sadar upazila, 12 km away. The former Indian president’s son-in-law, Pranab Mukherjee, left Narail at 12 noon after spending an hour with his relatives.
The Bhadrabila village of Narail Sadar upazila is the birthplace of Shuvra Mukherjee, Pranab’s wife. Shuvra is the daughter of the late Amarendra Ghosh from that village. They were four brothers and four sisters. Shuvra Ghosh’s sister, Uma, lives with her husband in Jessore. Although the rest of the siblings eventually migrated to India, younger brother Kanailal Ghosh lives alone in his ancestral home with old memories. Born in Nanabari in the village of Tularampur of the same upazila, Shuvra spent five years in her village Bhadrabila. She then began living in Nanabari and studied first and second class at the local Chanchra primary school. Then she moved to Calcutta. Pranab Mukherjee married Shuvra Ghosh (later Mukherjee) on July 13, 1956 while studying at the University of Calcutta. They have two sons, Abhijit Mukherjee and Surjit Mukherjee, and a daughter, Sharmistha Murkhaji.
Pranab Mukherjee breathed his last at the Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi on Monday (Aug 31) around 7.30pm. He was 84 years old at the time of his death. He suffered from various diseases, including the crown.
