36 burned in explosion in Narayanganj mosque

The Appellate Division Chamber Court suspended the High Court order to pay compensation of Tk 5 lakh to the families of 36 people burned in the Narayanganj mosque explosion until 1 December. At the same time, a date has been set for the court hearing of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on the same day.

In the context of a request made by the Titas Gas Authority, Justicia. Nuruzzaman gave the order Sunday. Lead counsel AM Amin Uddin appeared before Titas and Taimur Alam Khandaker appeared before the petitioner.

During the hearing, AM Amin Uddin said that it has not yet been determined who is responsible for the victims of the explosion at the mosque. I have been instructed to pay compensation before it is calculated. Also, I didn’t get a chance to hear in Superior Court. He asked to pay compensation without accepting my statement. The court judge then deferred the Superior Court order until December 1. The petitioner’s lawyer, Taimur Alam Khandaker, moved a bank headed by the Chief Justice to request the postponement of the petition. But the court kept the previous order of the day.

On September 9, the High Court ordered the Titas Gas Authority to pay Tk 5 lakh compensation to the families of 36 people burned in the Narayanganj mosque explosion. Titus Gas appealed to the Appellate Division Chamber Court of Judges to suspend the Superior Court order.

At around 8:30 pm on September 4, 36 worshipers were burned in an explosion due to a gas pipe leak at the Baitus Salat Jame mosque in the western part of the city of Narayanganj. They were admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Plastic Surgery and Burn Unit for treatment. Subsequently, 26 people died during the treatment. The Supreme Court lawyer, Taimur Alam Khandaker, has filed a judicial petition in the High Court to seek compensation of Tk 50 lakh per family of the victims. In the order petition, the High Court issued a rule asking why compensation should not be paid to the families of the victims at the rate of 50 lakh Tk.
