Dhaka: The cabinet has approved the draft of the ‘National Online Media Policy, 2018’ (revised, 2020) that makes registration mandatory for IPTV, as well as for online editions of newspapers, radio and television.

The government has taken the initiative to register the country’s online news portals, in the first phase 34 online portals were allowed to register on July 30. However, they have not yet registered. Registration will begin after the finance ministry sets the rate, information ministry officials said.
