The mutilated body of a woman named Nurjahan Begum (56) has been recovered from the village of Jahajmara from the Charjabbar union in Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali. His body was found in a rice field on the side of the town’s road on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Nurjahan Begum, wife of the late Abdul Barek from Jahajmara village.
Charjabbar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahed Uddin Chowdhury said two pieces of the housewife’s body were recovered. Salvaged pieces include the head and waist.
Locals say the housewife was cut into four pieces and killed. However, the chest and legs have not yet been found between the body parts.
Humayun Kabir, the deceased’s son, said his mother had been missing since Wednesday morning. Later in the afternoon, a local woman came to the rice paddy looking for snails and saw a piece of the body. Then the matter was made known.
OC Shahed Uddin Chowdhury said the body was recovered and sent to the Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police are investigating the matter. Police have yet to arrest anyone in the incident.
