Fahima Khatun wanted to build a new house with her estranged boyfriend. But three children got in the way. So Fahima wanted to clear that path by poisoning and killing her children. A child died after poisoning three children with juice. The other two are in treatment at the hospital. The tragic incident took place in the Uchail-Charinao village of the Rajiura union in Habiganj Sadar upazila.
Fahima Khatun made a confessional statement pursuant to section 164 in Habiganj’s Higher Judicial Magistrate’s Court, Touhidul Islam, on Tuesday (December 1). After giving his confession in court, he was sent to jail. The additional police superintendent, Mohammad Rabiul Islam, confirmed the information in a press conference in his office that same night.
He said Akter Mia, who lives next door, had an extramarital affair with Fahima Khatun, wife of easybike driver Sirajul Islam from Uchail-Charinao village at the Rajiura junction of Habiganj Sadar upazila. At one point they dreamed of building a house. But Fahima’s 3 sons got in the way.
On the night of November 18, Fahima bought two litchi juices from a store next to her house and gave them to her boyfriend Akhter Mia. Add poison to Akhter Mia’s juice. Later, Akhter Mia and Fahima Khatun called 3 children from the playground and gave them juice. After eating the juice, Fahima’s 3 children began to squirm due to the poisoning.
Later, with the help of the locals, 3 children were taken to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital. The other two children, Tofazzal Islam and Rabiul Islam, recovered after receiving treatment at the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Then the issue of Fahima and Akhtar’s extramarital affair came to light. Fahima’s husband, Sirajul Islam, brought a murder case against three people, including his wife Fahima.
