The mother has admitted to giving poison to her three children

In Habiganj, a mother tried to kill three children by poisoning them. However, one of them died but the other two survived. A year-long police investigation into the incident has revealed this information.

The additional police superintendent, Rabiul Islam, said at a press conference at the Habiganj district police superintendent’s office.

Earlier, Habiganj Senior Judicial Magistrate on Tuesday afternoon. Mother Fahima Khatun (28) confessed in Touhidul Islam court under article 164. She is the wife of Sirajul Islam, a tomtom driver from Charinao village in Habiganj Sadar upazila.

Citing additional police superintendent Rabiul Islam Fahima at the press conference, Fahima told the court that her husband accepted a job at the Pran company in Olipur in the district’s Shayestaganj upazila due to the shortage. Later, in early 2019, Fahima fell in love with the wealthy Akhter next door. It was decided to kill three children to make their relationship a marriage. So Akhtar and Fahima planned to kill them. According to the plan, on October 17, 2019, Akhtar bought poison and gave it to Fahima. The next day, at noon on October 18, Fahima mixed poison with juice and gave it to three children. Akhter (7) died when he was taken to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital that night. The other two children, Tofazzal Islam (10) and Rabiul Islam (6), were rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, but fortunately survived. Then everyone started living a normal life.

A few days after the incident, the love story between Akhter Hossain and Fahima began to unfold in the area. The suspicions of Fahima’s husband continue to grow. After that, her husband Sirajul Islam filed a case with the Habiganj Sadar model police station on November 24, 2019. Subsequently, the police investigated and revealed the main secret of the poisoning. On November 29, the police raided and arrested Fahima. He later confessed to being questioned by the police and gave a confessional statement in court on December 1.
