The mosque is closed in Austria!

Mosques are closing in Austria. This information was released by the country on Friday.

A mosque identified as a threat to national security will be closed following a deadly attack in the country’s capital Vienna earlier this week. More mosques may be announced later.

This information was provided by the Austrian Interior Ministry on Friday. A ministry spokesperson said details would be released soon at a press conference with Interior Minister Carl Nehamar and Integration Minister Susan Rabab.

“We will close a mosque after discussing with the authorities,” said a statement from Austria’s officially recognized Muslim community. The statement added that the mosque was being closed in violation of “religious doctrine and its constitution.”

Austrian Interior Minister Carl Nehamar called the decision to close the mosque a “significant step” against those seeking to take advantage of the rule of law in Austria.

The attacker struck shortly after noon in Vienna, killing at least four people. Which is the highest in the country in recent decades. The 20-year-old militant who was shot to death by the police is being charged in the killings. Sources: Al-Jazeera, BBC and Deutsche Welle.
