Police have recovered the body of a young man who disappeared from a train heading to Chuadanga from Joydebpur in the Gazipur district. Shaon’s body arrived at Missionpara in the village of Damurhuda upazila in Karpasdanga around 4 p.m. Thursday.
Shawn was the older of two brothers. He used to work in a private company in Tangail. When Shaon’s body arrived home, family members broke down in tears. He was the only child of his parents.
Shawn’s cousin Rocky said Shawn was standing in the train door and talking on his cell phone when he pulled his head out of the train and hit his head on the iron bridge of the gutter and fell. Shaon’s two travel companions reported the blood spilled on the train door to the railway authorities. Later, they got off at Mirzapur station with the railway authorities and searched for Shaon.
Mirzapur Railway Station Master Nazmul Huda said Shaon’s body was recovered under a culvert on the railway line between Joydebpur and Mirzapur stations. As there was no complaint from the relatives of the deceased, yesterday the police handed over the bodies to the relatives without carrying out an autopsy. His body was interred at the Karpasdanga Christian Cemetery Thursday night.
It is worth mentioning that last Wednesday night, friend Abun Kathan, his wife and three other people boarded bogie “C” of the Chitra Express intercity train bound for Khulna from Joydebpur in the Gazipur district to Chuadanga. Shortly after exiting the train, Shawn got up from his seat and walked to the door, talking on his cell phone. If he doesn’t come back after a long time, if there is any doubt, everyone starts looking for him. The matter was reported to the staff in charge of the train without getting to Shaon.
When the train stopped at Mirzapur railway station, they couldn’t find it even after searching all the bogies. Later, Shawn was standing in front of the door, where he found brains and drops of blood. The matter caused panic among passengers and train personnel. Later, when the matter was reported to the stationmaster, the stationmaster detained the two people who were with Shaon. The search for Shaon begins. Subsequently, the police recovered Shaon’s body.
