The recommendation was made at the 35th and 36th meetings of the Public Accounts Standing Committee held in Parliament on Thursday (December 31).

The meeting also recommended presenting the latest developments on the Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation financial loss case at the next meeting as there was a deficit of 74.83 quintals in the factory’s jute warehouse.
At the meeting, it was decided to form an investigation committee made up of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, BTMC and the audit office to present a report on the audit objection of Tk 12,22,517 due to the shortage of jute yarn produced by Bangladesh Textile Mill Corporation.
The meeting was informed that the Narsingdi office of UMC Jute Mills Limited had more workers than authorized workers. For this, the government’s financial loss is 26 crore 85 lakh 53 thousand 72 taka. It is recommended to resolve the audit objections in this regard.
The meeting discussed in detail about the BTMC recovery and government loan arrears of Tk 656.64 million rupees from 18 privately owned mills. The committee formed an investigative committee made up of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Law, BTMC, and the Audit Office to give a full report of the 18 factories and report in the next four months.
