Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for a boycott of French products. Previously, several countries in the Arab world called for a boycott. French products have already been recalled from many supermarkets in Kuwait, Jordan and Qatar. Protests have been seen in Libya, Syria and Gaza. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan also protested in a tweet. There have also been protests in Bangladesh. The idea is that other countries also protest. In such a situation, France has given a warning message to the citizens of France living in different countries.
The French Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Tuesday. The statement urged French citizens living in Indonesia, Bangladesh, Iraq and Mauritania to exercise caution. Any protest made with cartoons should be avoided. Public statements should also be avoided, the statement said.
Extreme caution is advised during travel and in places frequented by tourists or expats, according to the statement. Meanwhile, the French embassy in Turkey has issued a similar warning. French Interior Minister Gerald Dermanin said Tuesday that Turkey and Pakistan must not interfere in France’s internal affairs.
