Cox’s Bazar: Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan main murder case charged at Teknaf Baharchhara IC Investigation Center Inspector Liaquat Ali is giving a confessional statement under Section 164 in court.
He was brought to the court of Superior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah around 12 noon on Sunday (August 30).
Earlier on Friday (August 26), the court granted a three-day pre-trial detention to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Das, Deputy Inspector (SI) Liaquat Ali and Deputy Deputy Inspector (ASI) Nandadulal Rakshita, who was fired for the third time.
One day after pre-trial detention was granted, Liaquat Ali was brought to court under strict security for making a confessional statement under article 164.
Previously, three members of the APBN had similarly filed statements.
Previously, former army officer Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was shot dead by police at the Shamlapur checkpoint in Teknaf on the night of July 31.
On the same day, Sinha was returning to the Nilima Resort in Himchhari, Cox’s Bazar, on Marine Drive after filming a video on a hill in Marishbunia, Teknaf. Shahedul Islam Sifat, who participated in the making of the video, and Shipra Debnath were later arrested at Nilima Resort. Both are now out on bail. Sinha’s older sister, Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, filed a murder case against nine policemen in the Cox’s Bazar Magistrate Court on August 5. Subsequently, the RAB investigating agency also charged three witnesses in the case brought up by the police and three APBN members who were on duty at the checkpoint on the day of the incident.
