Train The ‘baggage van’ rail service has been declared closed within three days of its launch. They started on May 1 to guarantee the supply of raw materials produced by the company, but were declared closed due to the lack of cost and the unavailability of goods for transportation, said ACOPS (East) Saheb Uddin on behalf of the Chief Superintendent of Railroad Operations (East) The signed office order canceled the train of the baggage van.

Train packages 1 and 2 have been canceled since May 4, according to the office’s order. It has been decided to change the route from Parcel Special 3 and 4 on the Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka route to the Dhaka-Bhairabbazar-Mymensingh route, which will take effect on May 4. The order also said that the special train service would be canceled once normal train operations began.

Due to the coronavirus, after March 25, the movement of passenger trains was announced across the country, except freight trains. But to guarantee the supply of food and raw materials produced by farmers, three express parcel trains were launched starting May 1. It is said that through this train, marginal farmers will be able to send their produce directly to Dhaka for sale without any intermediary. On the one hand, farmers will get a fair price, on the other hand, food supply will be normal at this time in Corona. But due to the lack of response from the farmers, the railway authorities had to declare the trains closed just three days after launch.

Among the luggage trains launched were three days a week on the Jessore-Dhaka route, daily on the Dhaka-Dewanganj and Dhaka-Chittagong routes. These trains are scheduled to leave Chittagong at 10 a.m. and arrive in Dhaka at 4 p.m. and again from Dhaka at 10 p.m. Similarly, Dewanganj plans to leave Dhaka at 8 a.m. and Dewanganj at 4 p.m. and return to Dhaka at 6 p.m. There were also instructions to take all the important stations on this route every day.

It was decided to run one of the three trains on the Dhaka-Khulna route. But from the day the train was announced to run on Friday (May 1) until Sunday (May 3), the train was unable to travel even once. Meanwhile, the special cargo train has been declared closed. On the other hand, the Parcel Express train on the Dhaka-Chittagong route also stopped as of Monday (May 4) despite running for the first three days. Another Dhaka-Dewanganj route of three parcel express trains was supposed to run, but after three days the farmers did not respond.

Khulna station manager Bulbul said the Parcel Express train was introduced to transport crops produced by marginal farmers. But the farmers did not bring any merchandise for transportation at the Khulna station. The result is to wait up to three days. The special express parcel service on the Khulna-Dhaka route has been suspended since May 3.

An unidentified railway official said that rupees are lost every day due to a lack of goods. This money is not going to be raised. That is why the trains have been declared closed to avoid losses.
