Jahangir Alam, deputy general secretary of the Narayanganj District Awami League, has been relieved of his post for speaking at a protest rally in Narayanganj referring to the Awami League as an anti-independent party.

The information was given in a letter signed by Awami League District President Abdul Hai and Abu Hasnat Secretary General Md Shahid Badal on Tuesday afternoon.

Copies of the letter have been delivered to the President, the Secretary General, the Deputy Secretary General and the Organizing Secretary of the Dhaka Division of the Central Awami League.

To confirm the matter, said Awami League District Secretary General Abu Hasnat Md Shahid Badal, Jahangir Alam also addressed the public from the post mentioning the Awami League as an anti-independent party. It’s okay to get him off the team. They said they did it following the constitution.

The letter sent to Jahangir Alam read: “You, Jahangir Alam, have been released from the party for the crime of speaking to the Awami League as an anti-independent party from an important position in the Awami League of Narayanganj district.” His statement in front of the Narayanganj Press Club on November 21 is unforgivable, which has already come to our knowledge through various means.

When contacted about this, the deputy general secretary of the Awami League of the Jahangir Alam district said: “I have not received any letter of resignation from the party position.” However, I came to know through journalists. I don’t know why they fired me from the team. The district president and the general secretary have no authority to fire me from the party.

It is worth mentioning that when addressing a human channel on the afternoon of November 21, the deputy general secretary of the district Awami League, Jahangir Alam, mentioned the Awami League as an anti-independent party.
