The first span of the Padma Bridge sat on the post on September 30, 2016. It took three years and two months to install the remaining 40 spans. However, in the last two months, there have been 10 periods. Sources associated with the implementation of the Padma Bridge project say that if the bridge were to be commissioned in December next year, all spans would have to be installed within this month. It can be said that the works are progressing as planned with the launch of the last Spain.

The corona infection situation and excessive flood flow slow down the work of the Padma Bridge. The project area is completely enclosed to reduce crown damage. In other words, the workers and engineers who joined the job were not allowed to leave the project area. Two health centers were set up on both banks of the river. And even if they can’t sit down during the flood, the entire rest of the span remains ready. A favorable climate has been found after the installation of section 32 on October 11 after overcoming the disturbance from the corona and flood situation. No technical complications were created. As a result, it has been possible to place the 10 remaining spans in a row.

The main bridge over the Padma is between Mawa in Munshiganj and Jajira in Shariatpur.

The bridge toll plaza, connecting road and other structures have collapsed in Shibchar of Madaripur. As a result, three districts are involved with the Padma Bridge. The length of the river section of the bridge is 6.15 km. The bridge is paired with each 150 meter span. There are 41 spans in 42 posts. However, some four kilometers of bridges have already been built on both sides. This is called a viaduct. It has no steel section.
