The demand was made in a press release signed by Maulana Mufti Abdus Chatter, Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh’s Mahibbine Ahmed Shafi Foundation on Friday.
Maulana Mohiuddin Ruhi, a former deputy secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam, confirmed the statement.
The statement read: “Terrorists on behalf of the movement in Hathazari Madrasa have vandalized Ahmad Shafi’s rooms by looting, vandalism of Muhaddis’ rooms in the Madrasa and physically beating them.
“Cadres of Jamaat-Shibir and Manhajis and extremists are involved in this conspiracy. One of their motives was to remove Shah Ahmad Shafi from the world with the aim of seizing power from Hathazari Madrasa, occupying Qaumi’s courtyard and creating a platform for the politically anti-government movement and hastening the fall of the government by creating anti-government problems for millions of students and youth in Qaumi Madrasa. “
Amir Junaid Babungari of Hefazat-e-Islam told a news conference in Hathazari Madrasa on Wednesday that Shah Ahmad Shafi had died a “natural death.”
The statement read: “Ahmed Shafi’s family goes door to door seeking justice for the murder. Confused.”
The statement called on the government to immediately investigate the “murder” of Shah Ahmed Shafi, arrest the culprits and seek maximum punishment.
“Last Wednesday (December 23) in Hathazari Madrasa, Junaid Babungari held a press conference with his uncle and some innocent teachers from Hathazari Madrasa. He repeatedly said that Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi had died a natural death.
“If there is a natural death, where is the problem if it is investigated? In case of natural death, the result of the investigation will come out. So why are you threatening to drop the case and at the press conference that strict action will be taken against them if they don’t?
“It just came to our attention then. If his claim is true, then he should have applauded the case and the investigation. Instead, he proved at a press conference that Shah Ahmad Shafi’s death was unusual. Although no Hathazari Madrasa teacher has been charged in the case, he is trying to involve the Alem-Ulama in the debate by keeping the Hathazari Madrasa teachers present at the press conference and trying to change the public’s point of view. “
The statement said that all the cases brought against 36 people in the Chittagong court were directly and indirectly involved in the “murder” of Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi.
“They are giving their statements today in the media on behalf of various scholars to cover fish with vegetables. All those who attended Ahmad Shafi’s janaza witnessed the assassination of Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi and demanded justice from Hazrat’s family by holding speeches and press conferences more than once.
Case brought against 38 people, including Mamunul, for ‘killing’ Ahmed Shafi
“Is it a crime for your family to demand a murder trial as a victim? Terrorists continue to threaten to kill Hazrat and Maulana Anas Madani’s family, fearing their threats, she cannot move normally. ”
The intervention of law enforcement officers is sought for this situation.
The scholars called on everyone to maintain the unity of the Qaumiyat in any situation and not fall into the trap of the conspirators.
Mohiuddin Ruhi also said that a press conference will be held at Chittagong Press Club at 11 am on Saturday.
