The Minister of Education said: “We have closed (educational institutions) until the 14th of this month (November 14). If it will open on the 15th, if the holidays will be extended or if we will be able to start on a limited basis for some classes, we are still working on all these issues.

“I will try to inform them (the media) before the 14th. Because we have to make a decision before the 14th. We have to make a decision tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.”

After the coronavirus outbreak, all educational institutions in Bangladesh were closed as of March 16. All educational institutions except Qawmi Madrasa have been declared closed until November 14. Due to the epidemic, this time the annual exam is not performed.

The Education Minister had previously hinted that a limited number of educational institutions can be opened considering next year’s SSC and HSC candidates.

Dipu Moni said: “Even in the crisis, we have been able to continue our studies, of course this is not an ideal situation for us. We have many limitations, of which we are trying.

“We have to continue this effort, how much better can be done, because how long will it take, how long will we really be able to fully open the educational institution, the issues are still uncertain.

“We have the SSC and HSC exams ahead of us. We are also thinking about them in different ways, how they can complete their study program before their exams, we are thinking about all these things.”

Bangladesh Education Reporters collected responses from 498 students in Chittagong, 395 students in Dhaka, 20 students in Barisal, 28 students in Khulna, 29 students in Mymensingh, 65 students in Rajshahi, 8 students in Rangpur, and 8 students in Sylhet. Forum.

The mass literacy campaign then analyzed the data and made a report.

According to the report, 42 percent of high school students and 57 percent of high school students regularly participate in online education. And 63 percent of high school and high school students participate in regular online education activities.

“81 percent have learned through video. 35 percent are learning through Facebook Messenger. Other means (email, WhatsApp, Viber, etc. groups) 21 percent of students are learning.”

According to the survey, Internet spending has increased from Tk 501 to Tk 1,000 for 54% of students. And the cost of the internet has increased from Tk 80 to Tk 500 for 10 percent of the students.

Ninety-four percent of the students surveyed said they had a smartphone. And teachers have contacted 6 percent of the students. Ninety-six percent of the students in the departmental cities surveyed have a television at home.
