Nihara Khatun (40) was returning home with her husband Shukur Ali. A moving truck lost control and rolled onto the side of the road. Nihara lost his life on the spot. Shukur Ali lost his wife in front of his eyes and almost went mad.
The accident took place in the Saheb Bazar area of the Chatmohar-Mannanagar highway around 8 p.m. Sunday. The deceased was identified as Nihara Khatun from Charpara Bishipara village under the union of Gunaigachha from Bari upazila.
Tea vendor Shukur Ali and his wife Nihara Khatun are known to return home from the Saheb Bazar area after closing their stores. At that time, a truck carrying rice, pulses and flour from Pabna to Panchagarh (Pabna-T 11-0398) reached the Saheb Bazar area and lost control and rolled over. Nihara Khatun was crushed under the truck and died on the spot.
However, her husband Shukur Ali survived. Upon receiving the news, Chatmohar Fire Service personnel arrived at the scene and recovered Nihara Khatun’s body. The truck driver and his assistant fled after the incident. The police seized the truck.
Chatmohar OC Aminul Islam Police Station said the truck was impounded. However, the driver and the assistant escaped. In this case more legal action is being taken.
