Passenger bus ticket teacher Munna Mia, who was staying at the bus stop, said the woman arrived at the stop very early in the morning with her two children.
The woman was later seen crying loudly with someone on her mobile phone and begging him to take her away.
The woman said her name was Ritu Porna (22). She is the daughter of Shamsul Haque from Lahirikanda in Sadar upazila of Jamalpur district. He used to work in a garment factory in Dhaka. There, based on her identity, she married a man named Mosharraf Hossain (25) 10 years ago. After staying in Dhaka for a few years, he moved to his father’s house. Husband Musharraf also used to come from time to time. They have two sons named Nirab and Rupa in their family.
The husband is reluctant to support the child from birth. At one point, when he wanted to go to his father-in-law’s house, he avoided several talbahanas.
Last Thursday, when she demanded money for the illness of her two children, her husband refused to pay. He later threatened to commit suicide along with his son and informed him by phone to go to Nandail.
According to him, he reached Nandail Sadar after Thursday night and could not be found. She went to the Langarpar village of Sherpur, the union of the Upazila with the help of the local population, to find her husband’s birth registration address.
After spending the night, Nandail drove him to the bus stop on Friday. After that, Musharraf got on a bus and left. The woman could not find her husband even after waiting several hours. The woman finally went to her father’s house.
Said Nandail Model Police OC. Mizanur Rahman Akand said he found out about the matter Friday night. However, no action could be taken as no complaint was filed with the police station.
