Molina Bewa, wife of the famous Razakar Khorshed Ali Fakir from Khihali Chokpara village in the Gobindpur junction of Dupchanchia in Bogra, owns a disaster tolerant government house. This has created a negative reaction among the people in favor of the liberation war. A freedom fighter named Abdus Salam has also written to the deputy commissioner seeking redress for the incident.
Belal Hossain, member and chair of the Gobindpur Union District 5 project, claimed that Khorshed Ali Fakir was a self-identified Razakar. At the end of the war, the freedom fighters killed him. Molina Bewa, the Razakar’s wife, was listed by a government house. Additionally, Razakar’s family is self-sufficient and still has four dirt bighas in their field and one bigha in their residence. For this reason, he did not sign it for about a month. Subsequently, the people in the administration and the president of their union, SM Helal, were forced to sign under pressure.
Meanwhile, Abdus Salam, a heroic freedom fighter from the same village, said that there are many poor people in his village. But Molina Bewa, Razakar Khorshed Ali Fakir’s wife, officially received a home. Pro-liberation people, including him, are saddened by this and angry. He requested that legal action be taken against those responsible for the investigation.
According to the locals, the Razakar Khudur family is self-sufficient. They have secured assets and proprietary information and secured government offices through extensive lobbying. Currently a boundary wall is being built with bricks to hide the house.
On Thursday, Khudu went to Razakar’s home and was unable to speak because his relatives were absent.
The president of the Gobindpur Union, SM Helal Monwar, said that he was born after independence. So he doesn’t know if Khudu was a Razakar or not. Furthermore, he did not make the list and did not pressure anyone to do so.
Ashraful Arefin, Upazila Project Implementation Officer, said 16 disaster-tolerant houses were provided in Upazila in the last fiscal year 2019-20. It is not known if Molina Bewar’s husband was anti-independent in 1971. His family was given the house because he asked to be poor.
Upazila Nirbahi (UNO) officer SM Zakir Hossain said he did not know anything about Molina Bewar’s husband. Seeing the current situation, he has been given a house as poor.
The district relief and rehabilitation officer, Azahar Ali Mandal, said that Razakar’s self-sufficient family could not get a government house. However, if a written complaint is made to him in this case, he will take action against the accused.
