The government has taken the initiative to modify education policy, the Education Minister said. Dipu Moni. He made the remarks while addressing the inaugural function of the Fifth National Youth Family Planning Conference of Bangladesh at the Krishibid Institute in the capital on Friday.
The education minister said: ‘We formulated the education policy about 10 years ago. There have been many changes in this long time. Therefore, the government has taken the initiative to revise the educational policy since it is necessary to review, refine, add and update it.
He added: ‘Already a large population of the country has received education. Now the need is to achieve the quality of education. The government is committed to ensuring quality education at all educational levels. The promulgation of an integrated education law is almost in its final stage.
He called on the government and the people to pay special attention to the mental health of individuals and the young generation in the development of the post-epidemic world economy and in achieving the global sustainable development goals.
The two-day conference, hosted by Sirak-Bangladesh for the fifth time this year, has been a bit different because of Corona. As a precautionary measure to prevent corona infection, only the conference speakers were present in person at the venue following hygiene rules. And by registering on the website, more than five hundred young people from across the country are participating in the online conference. Where they will participate in various events that include eight plenary sessions, four parallel sessions, as well as networking training sessions and skills development. Organizers hope that the conference will play an important role in ensuring sexual and reproductive health and rights and family planning services among adolescents and young people.
