Due to the coronavirus situation, the Ministry of Religion has requested the congregation to perform the next Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in the nearest mosque rather than in the open space. In this case, if necessary, more than one Jamaat will be held in the same mosque.

The Ministry of Religion made the request in an emergency notification on Thursday.

An emergency statement from the Ministry of Religious Affairs said the coronavirus outbreaks had led to a nationwide ban on public gatherings. Recently, the government has relaxed the ban in some cases. At that time, the country’s leading academics, considering the importance of the holy month of Ramadan, demanded that the Prime Minister relax the conditions for holding prayers at the mosque. In view of this, since May 8, prayers were allowed in the presence of healthy faithful in the mosque under certain conditions.

Meanwhile (today) the Cabinet has instructed to avoid Eid Jamaat in large numbers in open spaces and to organize Eid Jamaat in accordance with existing regulations. Islamic Sharia encourages the congregation to perform Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in Eidgah or outdoors. But considering the current risk of the coronavirus situation, worshipers were asked to perform Eid prayers at the nearby mosque instead of Eidgah or open spaces this year.

In this case, some instructions have been asked to follow. This includes the fact that rugs cannot be placed in the mosque during Eid prayers. The entire mosque should be cleaned with disinfectant before prayers. Worshipers will carry Jainamaz at their own risk. To avoid coronavirus infection, soap or hand sanitizer should be kept in the azure area of ​​the mosque, hand sanitizer or handwash should be arranged at the entrance of the mosque, everyone should come from home and wash their hands with soap for at least 20 seconds during azure. The worshiper who comes to the congregation for Eid prayers must go to the mosque after wearing a mask. Jainamaz and hats reserved in the mosque cannot be worn. In case of queuing during Eid prayers, one has to follow the rules of social distance and hygiene and stand in line.

Children, the elderly, any sick person, and the person dedicated to serving the sick person cannot participate in the Eid prayer congregation. In addition, instructions from the health care department, local administration, and law enforcement agencies must be followed. The Ministry of Religion has asked to avoid hugging and shaking hands after Jamaat in the mosque.

Furthermore, Khatibs and Imams have been asked to offer prayers at the court of the great Rabbul Alamin after Eid prayers to save themselves from the coronavirus epidemic. The Khatib, Imam and Mosque Management Committee will ensure the implementation of the above problems. In case of violation of these instructions, the local administration and law enforcement agencies will take legal action against the responsible persons in question.
