BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned that the government will not be given more time. She said that even the UN secretary general has expressed concern about the increase in violence against women in various places. What could be more embarrassing for a nation?

Fakhrul said that the nation that fought for independence, established democracy in the past, is fighting for development today is being portrayed in a horrible situation as rape. The only way out of this is for us to be united. This government must be eliminated. They are the government against the people.

He said it on a human chain in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Friday.

The Nationalist Women’s Party (NWP) organized a program to protest the ongoing violence against women and children across the country, including the desecration of a girlfriend at the MC College premises in Sylhet by government criminals and the torture of a housewife in Begumganj, Noakhali.

Mirza Fakhrul said: “If we have to establish this horror of society, the right to life, the democratic right, we all have no choice but to unite.” This government has to be united, regardless of party affiliation, religion, caste and creed, and no more time can be given. If you give it more time, the result will not be good now. Let us unite today to establish democracy, to free Khaleda Zia, the mother of democracy, to bring back Tareq Rahman. We want to establish the rights of the people of this country. We want to establish the rights of people, the rights of women and children. Let’s all unite for that goal.

Regarding the circular of the Board of Education, the BNP general secretary said that the newspaper announced that a circular has been issued by the Board of Higher Secondary Education for those who are taking upper secondary exams or those who are studying in schools. In this circular, it is written that they will not be able to make any statement in any social network that goes against the government, tarnishes the image of the government. This shows how the government is trying to control the students, adolescents and youth of today. That is to be surprised. By issuing circulars at the school and university level, you are destroying their freedom of expression. It is not only here that journalists, politicians, even lawyers across the country cannot express their views today.

He said that the people of Bangladesh are in such a situation and have wanted to live in a free state all their life. Those who have fought to live in freedom have fought for freedom. We didn’t want to see a Bangladesh like that. I wanted to see a democratic Bangladesh, a country where the people of that state have freedom, have a majority. It will spread the fragrance of democracy based on the majority.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the martyred President Ziaur Rahman had restored democracy in Bangladesh by introducing multi-party democracy and abolishing the one-party regime. The country’s leader, Khaleda Zia, established parliamentary democracy and reintroduced democracy in the country. Today, the people of this country have been deprived of their democratic rights for a decade. They (the government) have destroyed the rights of the people and today they are deprived of the rights of a woman, a child to survive.

BNP Deputy Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the government was being condescending to those who were committing misdeeds. If they have no patrons in society, women and children will be abused over and over again, why? There are many examples of these sponsors. In 2009-10, the president of Natore Upazila, Nur Hossain Babu, was assassinated by boys from the Juba League-Chhatra League and danced on his body. After a long time, the charge sheet was not delivered. Because the government wants to save those murderers.

The president of the women’s party Afroza Abbas and the deputy general secretary Helen Jerin Khan also spoke on the human channel.
