The girl and her son-in-law have been accused of killing their parents and sending them to the hospital in front of the police. The incident took place around 6 p.m. Thursday (November 19) at the Barguna District Detective Branch (DB) office. Four members were present, including two DB police officers. The police allege, however, that such incidents do not occur in the office; It happened in front of the office.
The injured were identified as Abdus Sobhan, a retired teacher from the Ayla-Patakata union of Barguna Sadar upazila and his wife Jahanara Begum. They were rescued and admitted to the General Hospital of Barguna.
Abdus Sobhan’s son Jasim Uddin said: ‘My father was a government primary school teacher. He retired in June 2016. The following year, he withdrew his pension money and made a fixed deposit at the post office. After receiving the pension money, Sister Seema Akhter started demanding one lakh of rupees and started harassing her father at different times.

He added: “The last time, in mid-October, the Barguna District Police Detective Office received a written complaint from me and my father and mother. Later, the DB police came and took my father to DB’s office. Later, local lawyer Shafiqul Islam Majid released father from DB’s office on the condition that he post a bond of Rs 60,000 for four percent of the land. The money was to be paid before the November 18th.
But the limit is to demand one lakh of rupees instead of 60 lakhs. The dispute started again. At one point, on Tuesday (November 18) at noon, DB ASI Mizanur Rahman came to our house to catch her father again. The father went to meet with the law firm of Abdul Majid on Wednesday night to discuss the matter. On the way back from there, around 9:30 pm, ASI Mizan caught Baba and took him to the DB office.
Jasim Uddin further said: “After receiving the news, attorney Majid went to the DB office and arranged a meeting. Both parties sat down in the DB office for an engagement. Four or five DB members were present, including SI Ashraf, Sushil and ASI Mizan. But the deal was not possible as the limit was set at the request of one lakh rupee. At one point, Seema and her husband Hafizur Rahman began beating their parents inside the DB office. His mother’s 60,000 rupee bag was taken from her. Later, the parents were rescued and admitted to the General Hospital of Barguna.
Lawyer Abdul Majid said: “On Wednesday night, Abdus Sobhan was harassed and taken to the ASI Mizan office of DB. I went and got rid of him. Today’s incident is inside the DB office. We try to save Sobhan and his wife from Seema and her husband. But members of the DB police were unemployed then.
In this regard, DB ASI Mizanur Rahman said: ‘SI Ashraf Sir was given the responsibility to investigate the border complaint. But since he was in Amtali, he gave me the responsibility of calling OC Sir Abdus Sobhan. I did not visit his home on Wednesday afternoon, but then asked his family members to come to the DB office on Thursday. On Thursday night I called him from the stadium area to confirm the date of the match.
Police Officer in Charge of District Detective (OC-DB) Zakir Hossain said: “There was a little problem with the parents and daughter outside, not inside the office.”
