The Kanthalbari ghat in Madaripur and the Shimulia canal in Munshiganj no longer exist. The Kanthalbari Ghat is being moved to a place called Banglabazar due to the navigability crisis and work on the Padma Bridge. The ferry began sailing through the new pier on Monday morning. The Banglabazar Ghat is about 500 meters upstream from Kanthalbari. From now on, this waterway will be known as Banglabazar-Shimulia.

Ghat authorities say that a new water canal has been created for the Shimulia canal through Banglabazar. There is no navigability crisis on this canal. The new waterway will be able to operate all ferries, including Ro Ro, Dumb. However, the launch operation on this new waterway has not yet started. Motorboats and speedboats navigate Kanthalbari-Shimulia.

According to sources from the Kanthalbari Ghat of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transportation Corporation (BIWTC), the Kanthalbari Ghat is being moved to the Bangladesh area due to the navigability crisis and the management of the Padma Bridge river. The construction of the new ghat took about four to five months. On Monday morning, two ferries were withdrawn from Kanthalbari and taken to the new pier in Banglabazar. Work is underway to remove other ghats.
