Noakhali: The body of Burhan Uddin Muzakkir, 25, who was shot and killed in a clash between two factions of the Awami League while performing his professional duties, was buried at his village home in Companiganj, Noakhali.
He was buried in his family’s cemetery on Sunday (February 21) around 8 pm after Janaza.
The body was found at his home in Pavilion No. 5 of the Charfakira Union of the Upazila around 6:30 pm.
Muzakkir’s parents, brothers, and sisters repeatedly faint after seeing the body. The environment of the area has become heavy due to the presence of relatives, colleagues and locals.
The deceased was identified as Burhan Uddin Muzakki, son of Nawab Ali Master of the neighborhood.
Muzakki is the youngest of seven siblings. He used to perform professional tasks from his sister’s house. This year he completed his Master of Political Science from Noakhali Government College.
Muzakki was the district representative for the Barta Bazar online portal and the Bangladesh Samachar daily.
Muzakkir’s father, Master Nawab Ali, told banglanews that Muzakkir’s body arrived home around 8:30 pm. He was buried in the family cemetery after Janaza at the local Azgar Ali Dakhil Madrasa plot around 8pm.
“I’m 65 years old,” he said. His mother is older. Some days we think of our age and create a whole new family cemetery for ourselves. But today we all stay. The youngest Muzakki in the family will be buried first in that cemetery.
Elder brother Fakhruddin Mufachir said that Muzakkir’s death had left his mother in mourning. When he was a child, he had a great friendship with his mother. Now she can’t bear the news of her brother’s death.
On Friday afternoon (February 19), clashes broke out between the group’s younger brother and the mayor of Basurhat municipality, Abdul Quader Mirza, and the group of former Kompaniganj Upazila president, Mizanur Rahman Badal, at Tarkari Bazar in Chaprashir. Hat in Charfakira Union of upazila. At that time, journalist Muzakki was shot while covering the clashes. He was taken to the Companiganj Upazila Health Complex and then to the Noakhali General Hospital. From there he was sent to the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) hospital for advanced treatment. He died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at 10:44 pm on Saturday (February 20).
