He said the temperature may drop below 10 degrees Celsius in some areas from the night of December 26. Particularly in the northern, central and southwestern parts of the country, the cold snap is expected. However, it will be moderate and will last longer.
Regarding the fog, he said: ‘The water coming from the southeast is mixing with water vapor to increase the humidity. This is creating a thick fog. It will be like this this month. He said the fog would also be seen in January.
According to the Department of Meteorology, the extension of the subcontinental high pressure zone is in West Bengal and adjacent areas. The seasonal light pressure is found in the Bay of Bengal. As a result, the weather can be mostly dry with temporary clouds in the sky. Moderate to heavy fog can fall in the river basin from midnight to morning. Other areas may also experience light to moderate fog.
The lowest temperature in the country on Thursday was 6.8 degrees Celsius in Tetulia, an average of 6 degrees in the past two days. Meanwhile, Dhaka was 13.4 degrees Celsius, Mymensingh 11.4 degrees, Chittagong 15.4 degrees, Sylhet 15 degrees, Rajshahi 12 degrees, Rangpur 13.9 degrees, Khulna 13.5 degrees, and Barisal 12 degrees Celsius.
