His wife’s name is Helen Akhter. The current address is Narayanganj Sadar Kashipur. However, a few days after the murder, the police arrested Shilpi Begum at a house at Naboday Housing in Adabar. According to his information, his son Sijan Mahmud de Bagerhat and his friend Fahim de Savar were arrested. All three detainees have made confessional statements in court alleging their involvement in the murder.
Dhanmondi Area Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Abdullah Hill Kafi said in his statement that artist Begum said Sohail was her third husband. And Sijan Mahmud is the son of her second husband, Sekendar Sheikh Sagar. Her husband Sekender was arrested and jailed in an incident seven years ago. In that incident, she took Sohail’s help to rescue her husband. From there, a love affair with Sohail developed. So, Sohail introduced himself as a vegetable merchant in Rayerbazar. She divorced her second husband 5 years ago and married Sohail. Season was in seventh grade at the time of the wedding. Her second husband moved to Bagerhat. She used to rent a house in the Bochila area with her third husband Sohail and their son Sijan. After the marriage she realizes that her husband is a cheater. The people knew him as a retired member of the army. It used to take Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 for employing different people with this identity. Cheating in this way, they used to change houses for 6/7 consecutive months. Sohail told him that the boy would give him a seasonal job in January of this year. To do this, she brought 1 lakh rupees from her second husband in Bagerhat. He gave the money to Sohail for his son’s work. Meanwhile, he learns that Sohail had had 3 marriages before. Sohail married her distant cousin two months ago. When she protested, Sohail beat her in front of her son. Thereafter, he wanted to return the Rs 1 lakh given for his son’s work. According to Mahmud’s statement given in court, in August last year, Sohail rented a room on the ground floor of house number 75/1 in Madhya Bochila for 5,000 Tk. After moving into that house, her parents want a 1 lakh rupee refund from her father. With this, his father Sohail often tortured his mother. With this, on September 10, the mother and son together planned to bring out the father. According to the plan, Sajan bought a gear razor from a sidewalk shop in Mirpur. He bought 6 sleeping pills at a neighborhood pharmacy and gave them to his mother. On the afternoon of September 13, her mother mixed sleeping pills with syrup and gave it to her father to eat. At the time, Sajan was with his friend Fahim. When they received the news that their father was sleeping, they went to the house. Season sent her mother from home to her aunt’s home. So Sijan and Fahim killed Sohail and fled.
Dhanmondi Area Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Abdullah Hill Kafi further said that the police discovered in the Sohail investigation that he was a member of an organized criminal gang. He used to receive money to give work to people at different times.
